D'backs are the AAA Champs!

What a great baseball season Connor has had this spring! We've been very happy with the coaches, kids and parents. Connor has really improved lately and was the team's full time catcher. They ended up 4th out of 9 teams in the regular season and were undefeated in the Play Offs until the 2nd to last game, which forced a Championship game with the Cubs. The game was last night and boy was it a stressful time for Mama. We were behind the entire game until the 5th inning. We were down by two and Connor stole home for a run and then, Mikey stole to tie it up forcing extra innings. To make a long, stressful story short, we were tied with two outs, bases loaded and guess who's up to bat? Connor, of course. He was as cool as a cucumber... I was not. He hit a bullet down the third base line and got a triple! Was actually headed home for a grand slam but he almost lapped the kid in front of him and had to slow down. This hesitation made him have to head back to third and he was tagged for the third out. It wasn't over yet, the other team still had to bat. There were two pretty amazing catches for outs and a strike out. It was great! Congratulations, Connor! Ian kept asking me, "Mom, how does Connor do that?" He was digging balls out and not letting much by him at all. Not a single boy stole home on Connor! Great Job, Fred!!!
